4 Valentine's Day events happening on campus

Austin Warren

Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, and as its arrival grows ever nearer, the campus community is coming together to celebrate the season of love. Here are 4 Valentine’s Day events on campus that you can engage with—if you’re feeling festive.

Until Feb. 14: Valentine Grams

Until February 14th, CAB is organizing an initiative to create handwritten notes—called Valentine Grams—and send them to others as requested. Whether intended as a thoughtful gesture or a token of appreciation, these Valentine Grams have the potential to make someone’s Valentine’s Day just a little sweeter.

These notes will be delivered directly to the recipient’s CPO on February 14th. All students should have received an email from CAB about Valentine Grams, so if you’re interested, be sure to find it in your email directory for instructions on how to request a Valentine Gram for that special someone.

Feb. 12: Crafts, Condoms and Cookies – 5 - 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, February 12th, “Crafts, Condoms and Cookies” is being hosted in Fairchild Hall from 5 – 7 p.m. As the name of the event suggests, participants can craft handmade cards for their loved ones at the event. There will also be cookies provided, as well as condoms.

You can RSVP for the event on Berea Engage using your Berea College credentials.

Feb. 12: Love Notes for Change – 6:30 - 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, February 12th, “Love Notes for Change” will be hosted by Generation Action and VEPAC in Baird Lounge from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The event is geared toward writing ‘Thanks and Spanks’ Valentines to legislators to either thank or critique them. The Valentines will be delivered to Frankfort the day after the event, so if you’re looking to infuse the season of love with some political flair, this event is for you.

Contraceptives and snacks will be available throughout the event as students write their letters to legislators. You can RSVP for the event on Berea Engage using your Berea College credentials.

Feb. 14: Cupid is Cancelled – 9 p.m. – 12 a.m.

On Valentine’s Day, from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., CAB will be hosting a “Cupid is Cancelled” Anti-Valentine’s Day party in the Woods-Penn Commons. According to various online sources, Anti-Valentine’s Day festivities are conducted in opposition to Valentine’s Day festivities, but they can still celebrate platonic or simply aromantic kinship between people.

If that sounds more up to your speed than other sappy Valentine’s Day events on campus, consider giving this event a try. You can RSVP for the event on Berea Engage using your Berea College credentials.

While these surely aren’t the only Valentine’s Day events happening on campus, they are accessible to all students wishing to celebrate the most romantic holiday of the year. However you’re spending February 14th, though, we here at BCNR wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
