On November 7th of last year, a stovetop grease fire triggered the sprinkler system in the Harrison-McLain House Management House, which is a living learning option for those that are Child and Family Studies major. The Harrison - McLain house has a full kitchen that is used by CFS courses. The fire was caused by cooking. Students were relocated to the Kentucky-Talcott freshman dorm the day of the incident. Since November and December, no new information has been released by the college about this situation.

Non Traditional students reported mold within some Eco Village Housing Units. This concern was raised by students on October 9th of last year during the General Assembly. A student newsletter was sent out stating that professional mitigation has been put into place. Dehumidifiers, Air Purifiers are two main implementations. Another news letter was sent out which stated that Hepa filter air purifiers and Dehumidifiers were installed in ALL units. Profession air duct cleaning was serviced and professional air testing and indoor air quality assessments were completed.

The results of these tests were projected to be received by December 10th of last year. In this newsletter, the college announced plans to begin remediation and general repairs in the spring of 2026. Students felt that the college is not being transparent and that the mold has been a long standing issues at the college.

Currently, the results of the mold tests have still not been revealed and mold in the Eco Village Units are still trying to be maintained and eradicated.
